I've been meaning to start this thread for awhile. The goal is simple, to help connect members who are actively/passively searching for new job opportunities. I work in HR, so I can give job seekers tips from the other side of the interview table and look for new opportunities for others when I attend career fairs.


Job Seekers: Post area of town, type of position, schedule requirements (FT/PT), etc.

Members: Post up any opportunities that you think may be of interest to other members.

Job Hunting Tips:

1. Have an updated resume ready to submit. PROOF READ! One typo will get your resume tossed out.

2. Network, Network, Network. Having someone on the inside may be all you need to get noticed.

3. Your Name is your brand. Google yourself. Clean up your social media footprint.

4. Dress professional, practice your elevator speech, and come prepared to interviews. First impressions can go a long way.

5. Create a Linkedin. You can see who is looking at your profile. It makes it easier to learn more about you and recruiters will reach out to you.

Personally I work on emergency power generators. Ok my guys work on it I am just the supervisor. But to extend the members helping members that SCLX has. We have recently lost a warehouse man(we have no idea where we left him, and without a work order, poor guy never figured out how to find his way back).

We are looking for part time help mostly through the middle of the day 11-3 +/-. However the last young man we had in here was going to school and we worked around his schedule.

We are just a short way from downtown on the East side, really close to UH, and extremely close to the Original Nifa's Restaurant. The address is 320 North Sampson, Houston TX 77003

Some lifting, nothing seriously heavy, on the plus side, we wear shorts and polo's to work.(well that may or may not be a plus, depending on what your legs look like)

Our store hours are 7-4:30 mon-fri. NO WEEKENDS. NO NIGHTS. NO HOLIDAYS. Shoot we even get Good Friday, Memorial Day, and Labor Day Off, sadly we dont offer St. Patrick's Day and National yo-yo day off, you have to show up for them.
