The SRT Tour returned to Houston this year and we had the privelege of spending some time with them at Top Golf Houston. The tour consists of four drivers piloting the Challenger SRT, Charger SRT, 300 SRT, and Grand Cherokee SRT.
Visit drivesrt.com for more information on these great vehicles and the 2013 SRT Tour.
We had a great turnout in Mopar Corner for the first "summer" Coffee and Cars of 2013. Carvans rolled in early from all parts of town. It was great to see all the 300s, Chargers, Magnums, Challengers, and SRT Grand Cherokees out in force. We met many newbies and will probably have to start brining the name badge kit to this event again.
This year we decided to have the celebratory Birthday Bash at the monthly Central Meet and Greet so more members could enjoy and be a part of it. We counted 160 vehicles in attendance with owners and their families.
Every member who showed up with their name badge received one free raffle ticket and we gave away Challenger Freedom posters, some Fast & Furious 6 items, and some Pennzoil Ultra 0w40 SRT oil. In addition we had a special guest. John Hennessey greeted the crowd and shared his thoughts about SCLX and Lone Star Mopar Fest.
Since our founding in May of 2007 this organization has always been, and will always be, about the people.
This month's Coffee and Cars had SCLXers waking up EXTRA early in order to reestablish dominance in the American Muscle section, namely MOPAR Corner. One other club in town has made it a habit of saving spots with cones past the organizers allowed time of 7:00am.
We have been long-time supporters of this event, through it's three different locations. We routinely roll in with 60-70 vehicles. Back when some of our section neighbors complained to us we stop saving spots. After conversations with organizers a new policy will be in place for June... no saving of spots, at all.
Those owners that want to participate in this great event, can do so by arriving early. It's been a shame to see people arrive early and not be able to park because spots were saved.
With a name like Space City LX we never had the opportunity to take a group photo at our local NASA facility, Johnson Space Center. Well, today we had the chance to bring 50 club cars onto the facility and take a group photo. Special thanks to Bernie, mother of Firefox, for helping coordinate this with JSC Security.
With a limited amount of spots available we issued free tickets. They were announced on the forum and sold out in two days. The next photo shoot will be announced to Club Supporters first and if there is any space left the rest of members. Sign up to be notified.
Finally, big thanks to Carlos "KortERHorse-281" for taking these great photos. Carlos has been a long-time member of SCLX and has taken hundreds of photos for members. In fact, read about his thoughts on taking club photos here.

Tonight we had great weather, probably the last "cold" blast of the Spring. This Central M&G was extra special because we had Heidi from Billet Technology with us. It was a joy for her to walk around, talk to you members, and see what you've done with the parts her company creates.
We started our "newbie and first-time event attendee" intro session tonight and seemed very well received. This is something we will continue to do and expand.
If you are reading this, and have NEVER been to an event... make plans for May's Central M&G on the 3rd Friday of the month.
Another Spring Festival comes to a close and we've got a recap of the events here with plenty of photos and links to videos. Here is a recap from Chrysler's blog.
Houston, you've got your chance this fall to see and meet hundreds of owners at Lone Star Mopar Fest. Make plans for October 18 and 19.
The weather could not have been more perfect for tonight's Central Meet & Greet. Members continue to arrive early, some as early as 6pm, for the 8pm event start. The rows were full of members rides as we exceeded 100 cars again.
Watching members gather to share information, stories, and get ideas... that's what's great about this event. We call it the Monthly Family Reunion for good reason. Read about another example of Members Helping Members.
SCLX President, Johnny Bee, made two announcements.
At the April 19th Central Meet & Greet we will have special guests from Billet Technology. Join us in welcoming Heidi and Mr. Pete back to Houston.
A special photo opportunity at NASA on April 20th.
If you missed the event, click here to see the photos and make plans to come to an SCLX event soon.
Houston Coffee & Cars is a moving museum of automotive history. There is no better place to be on the first Saturday of each month. If you did not get out to Vintage Park off Louetta and SH249, make plans for April. In the meantime, enjoy the photos.
The SCLX Mod Meet is very special to us. You see, back in 2007 before the club started, the founders would get together in a driveway and help work on each other's vehicles and learn from each other. So, when the club started in May 2007 our first official club-hosted event was called the "Beat the Heat Mod Meet".
Fast forward almost six years later and our 11th Mod Meet is just as special as the first. Seeing "members helping members" in full action... that's what makes SCLX the family it is.
If you weren't there, take some time to enjoy the photos from Mod Meet #11.
